More About My History
I am a social entrepreneur building digital health tools that dramatically improve the landscape for brain health in the 21st century. I am the Co-Founder and CEO of Workit Health, whose mission is to make actionable substance use recovery accessible to high risk substance users around the clock, enabling early prevention and intervention, and empowering individuals with tools to live the lives they want to live.
I have extensive experience developing social innovation technology and social enterprises. I have held positions on edtech leadership teams scaling key platforms in the adaptive and open digital learning fields (OER Commons, Gooru). I developed one of the first social sector technology service models in the open digital learning space and have facilitated a wide range of learning innovation labs for foundations (Gates Foundation, Hewlett Foundation) and universities. Over the course of the last thirteen years, I have worked in various mental health settings including addiction research, crisis referral, alcohol and drug treatment aftercare, wilderness therapy, disaster response, and career counseling. I hail from the Detroit Metropolitan area. My graduate work at the University of Michigan was centered at the intersection of information science and social innovation (MSI/MSW).
We contain multitudes. Some facets of emphasis in my world are rock climbing, excessive consumption of hot tea, reading, writing, yoga (ryt 2009), design, and philosophy.
